Product Description:

Complex Sodium Disilicate / Modified Sodium Disilicate

Complex Sodium Disilicate (CSD) or Modified Sodium Disilicate (MSD) is an excellent substitute for Sodium Tripolyphosphate (STPP) in the manufacturing of detergent powder. The molecular formula for CSD / MSD is Na2Si2O5 and its CAS NO. is 13870-28-5. The EINECS NO. is 237-623-4.

CSD / MSD is available in two types- Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 appears as white small granules, while Type 2 is in the form of white fine powder. The bulk density of Type 1 is 0.48g/cm3, whereas that of Type 2 is 0.68g/cm3. It is preferred to use drying mixing with post-spraying or pre-spray technology to manufacture the CSD/MSD according to the desired application.

Advantages and Applications

Complex Sodium Disilicate (CSD) or Modified Sodium Disilicate (MSD) is an eco-friendly, cost-effective, and efficient substitute for STPP in the manufacturing of detergent powder. It has the following advantages:

  • Excellent function and high calcium exchange ability- Minimum 400 mg CaCO3/gCSDS.
  • PH buffering capacity- It does not affect the PH value of the final product.
  • Cost-effective- Its competitive price makes it an economic choice for detergent powder manufacturers.
  • Free-flowing- It is in granule/powder form and does not cake.
  • Compatible with existing equipment- It can be used in the same process as STPP without any changes.
  • Applications- It can be used to produce common or concentrated detergent powder, free-phosphate, or low-phosphate detergent powder.

CSD / MSD has a shelf life of 12 months under proper storage conditions. The bags should be tightly closed and stored in a cool, dry, and ventilated warehouse, avoiding contact with incompatible substances such as oxidizing agents and acids.

Features:

The substance is available in two different forms- fine white powder and small white particles. Both forms share the same color- white.

The fine white powder is a substance that is finely milled, and its texture resembles that of flour. It can be compared to other powders such as baking powder or talcum powder. The powder may be easily dispersed and can sustain in the air for extended periods due to its fine size.

The small white particles, on the other hand, are easily distinguishable from the fine white powder as they are visibly larger and have a different texture. While the particles are not milled as finely as the powder, they are still much smaller compared to other particles of solids. These particles can be compared in size to a grain of salt or sugar and almost appear like small granules.

The substance is commonly used in various applications where its properties can be exploited in both forms. The choice of form depends on the purpose for which the substance is used and the requirements. Industries such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and food processing use the substance in both forms to achieve specific results.

Applications:

Complex Sodium Disilicate, also known as Modified Sodium Disilicate, is a common ingredient used in the manufacturing of detergent powder. It is often used to replace other substances such as stpp or zeolite 4A. This is because Complex Sodium Disilicate has many benefits and advantages over these traditional ingredients.

Complex Sodium Disilicate is known for its excellent performance in stain removal and water softening. It is also highly effective in reducing the amount of foam created during the washing process, which can help prolong the lifespan of washing machines. Additionally, using Complex Sodium Disilicate can enhance the whitening power of detergent powder and increase the overall cleaning power.

Another important advantage of Complex Sodium Disilicate is its lower price compared to other ingredients commonly used in detergent powders. This makes it a preferred choice for many manufacturers, allowing them to produce high-quality products at a lower cost. With its excellent performance and cost-effective nature, it is no wonder that Complex Sodium Disilicate is widely used in the detergent powder industry.
